During the Easter, Summer, and Christmas holidays, we provide support to other HAF providers as well as deliver our own clubsHoliday clubs have helped spark interest and build confidence, and we welcome young people regardless of experience!

What is HAF?

HAF is a national Department for Education funded programme aimed at enabling children and young people to attend activities and experiences in the Christmas, Easter and Summer school holidays.

Who is eligible?
  • Children assessed by the local authority as being in need, at risk or vulnerable

  • young carers

  • Free school meal children

  • looked-after children or previously looked after children

  • children with an EHC (education, health and care) plan

  • children who have low attendance rates at school or who are at risk of exclusion

  • children living in areas of high deprivation or from low-income households who are not in receipt of free school meals

  • children in transition phases between nursery and primary school or primary and secondary school

As a result of this programme, we want children who attend this provision to:

  • have a greater knowledge of health and nutrition

  • be more engaged with school and other local services

We also want to ensure that the families who participate in this programme:

  • develop their understanding of nutrition and food budgeting

  • are signposted towards other information and support, for example, health, employment, and education

Other workshops

HULL MUSIC SERVICE

We ran a full day of music technology workshops aimed at working with underprivileged communities. We worked with 30 teenagers aged between 10 and 16 who all came with their parents.

Across the day the group experienced how to DJ, produce Music and Beatbox as they rotated around 3 workshops in groups of 10. At the end of the day individuals were asked to showcase the skills learnt to the rest of the groups in the main hall.

“Noise Academy first contacted me through the Hull Music Hub Website in autumn 2016 and since then we have grown an extremely effective partnership .The Hub has been developing a programme aimed at offering Rock, Pop and Urban music opportunities to Young People in Hull who have been marginalised by mainstream education. It was clear to me that we should have Noise Academy involved as an official delivery partner for the Hub. Noise Academy have led a series of taster sessions for local Pupil Referral Units and schools. These sessions were outstanding and the feedback from staff on how the team were able to engage young people so positively was excellent”

LINCOLNSHIRE ONE VENUES

LOV work with a number of venues across Lincolnshire delivering a wide range of art based workshops and activities with young people across the county. We have delivered lots of workshops for them since 2016 with the goal developing more music opportunities particularly through music technology.

SPALDING MUSIC FESTIVAL

The incentive helped support a group of young people who organised a street festival across Spalding market place with the aim of giving them a platform to perform to their local community. Noise Academy facilitated a popup DJ tent and offered free sessions to the public! We were there between 10am and 3pm.

LINCOLN PERFORMING ARTS CENTER

We ran a pop up Music Technology workshop tailored towards supporting young musicians in developing their creations and performance skills. We were very accommodating towards those who wanted to learn how to DJ & Make music and also ended the day with a Beatboxing performance! We were there between 12pm and 4pm.

“Excellent workshop and I would fully recommend it to other educational establishments. Very professional, insightful and shows learners another side to the music industry opposed to traditional instrumentation”

Access Creative College – Phil Owst

CITY SQUARE LINCOLN

We ran a walk in workshop in the centre of Lincoln with the aim of engaging a wider audience of teenagers from the city. We were there for 5 hours in total and inspired lots of young people passing by.

Lincoln Drill Hall

We facilitated a 6 week Beatboxing programme which lasted for 1 hour each week. The small group that we worked with took part in a performance at the end of the incentive with our tutor Mikey Beats.

The Terry O’Toole Theatre

We were asked to teach a small group of students how to DJ and choreographed the sound track to a dance based pantomime. We were provided with the music requested by the students, and across 6 weekly sessions we taught them the fundamentals of Djing and worked closely with the rest of the groups. The incentive ended with a huge performance to over 100 people!

“Noise Academy have been great to work with and they have been really flexible in meeting our requirements each time. All of the young people they have worked with have spoken extremely positively about their experiences”
